North Shore Real Estate Agent David Kureluk
My career in real estate evolved from a love for the game of golf and helping people. From the age of five I was fascinated by the game of golf. Some of my earliest memories are of tagging along with my father and grandfather on a 9-hole course that featured sand greens, in the small town of Vilna in northern Alberta.
The problem was I wasn’t very good at hitting the ball. So, I began formal lessons at an indoor golf school that led to my first part time job – selling lesson membership packages and custom-built golf clubs.
As a shy, introverted teenager I might not have been the best candidate for a commission-based sales position. But golf had its hold, and my deep interest and passion for the sport allowed me to overcome my fears and start my engagement with the art of sales.
As my love for competitive golf intensified so did my goal – to qualify for the PGA Tour and compete at the highest level. After graduating from college, I spent the next 10 years experiencing all the triumphs and tribulations that is professional tournament golf in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.
I experienced a glimpse of success early on when I earned a coveted spot in the field of the 1997 PGA Tour event in Vancouver (GVO) when I was the medalist at the Monday Qualifier. Although I never managed to earn exempt status on the tour some memorable highlights included competing on the Canadian Tour with my brother as my caddy, shooting a course record 61 at the New Brunswick Open, caddying for President Gerald Ford, hitting practice balls next to Arnold Palmer and teaching golf for a year at the Orient Golf Club in Taiwan and mainland China.
These experiences taught me how to connect with people at every level and from multiple cultures.
LOYALTY, INTEGRITY AND EXPERTISE
Fast forward to real estate. Coming off the tour in 2004 I realized it was time for a new pursuit. My early success with golf sales, my father’s successful career as a real estate broker, and my mother’s influence as an artist and interior designer nudged me to consider a career in real estate. In typical fashion, I jumped in with both feet. I completed the real estate licensing course and passed the exam in less than 30 days. I was now a licenced Realtor.
I began my new career with the intention of helping families find their dream home. With more than 15 years of practicing real estate, completing numerous continuing education courses, obtaining my Broker’s License, selling and assisting in the sale of over 600 residential properties ranging from entry level condos to multi-million-dollar estate properties and having worked as a Managing Broker, I am passionate about real estate.
Along the way I found out that “helping families find their dream home” is only a fraction of Vancouver’s real estate market. Condo pre-sales, assignments, shadow flipping, double ending, misrepresentation, breach of duty, failure to disclose, multiple offers were just some of my introduction to the business side of real estate in Vancouver.
I have now come full circle. At the start of 2019, I changed brokerages and have rededicated myself to what I set out to do at the beginning of my career – help families find their dream home.
I am a Realtor who is committed to telling clients what they need to know as opposed to just what they want to hear. I use extensive market and statistical knowledge to help my clients make informed and prudent decisions in one of the largest financial transactions they will ever make and always deliver an accurate score card. Success can be achieved without compromising one’s values.
I believe my clients deserve:
